Ford Mustang
In terms of value, Ford is well ahead of some rivals. The Mustang GT has the same power as the Porsche 911 Carrera S – 444bhp – but costs around £50,000 less.
Not only do you save a lot of money, you get a 5.0-litre V8, 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 250km/h. The Mustang may not be as refined, polished, well-built, or composed as its pricier competitors, but there’s little to detract from its rich character. Enthusiasts will never tire of the noise of the four tailpipes.
While muscle cars aren’t very good at navigating twisty roads, and the latest Mustang isn’t a refined hardcore, it handles it well. Its recently improved chassis is more controlled than ever, especially with its adaptive dampers. The heavy but precise steering is nice, and the six-speed manual transmission is much better than the somewhat sluggish 10-speed automatic.
