Overview

Borgward is an automobile manufacturer originally founded by Carl F. W. Borgward (November 10, 1890 – July 28, 1963). The original company, based in Bremen in Germany, ceased operations in the 1960s. The Borgward group produced four brands of cars: Borgward, Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd. The marque has been revived by Carl Borgward’s grandson, Christian Borgward, together with his partner, with assistance from Chinese investment, Foton Motor Inc. The Borgward logo unveiled in 2015 International Motor Show, its diamond shape consists of four triangles, two of which are coloured red – a reference to the flag of the German city of Bremen.

The brand was revived in the 21st century, with the Stuttgart-based Borgward Group AG designing and marketing cars manufactured in China.
